Rams Lead Vander Galien To First Career Head Coaching Victory

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn - The North Central University Rams earned the first career victory for first year head coach Faith Vander Galien with a 3-1 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on day two of the NCU Invite in downtown Minneapolis.

NCU (1-6) took the first set 25-19. The second set proved to be the most thrilling as NCU edged Faith Baptist (3-6) by a score 32-30. Faith Baptist took a narrow third set 25-23 before NCU sealed the win with a 25-22 fourth set victory.

NCU was led all match by middle blockers Emma Middendorf and Katie Strand. Strand paced the Rams offensive attack with a season high 17 kills in the match. Middendorf added 15 kills. In the back row, libero Maddie Stocker recorded 23 digs to go along with 2 kills and 1 ace. Freshman Grace Hart added 17 digs and 9 kills to contribute to the Rams all around effort.

The Rams will be back in action next Saturday, September 16th as they open up Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action at Bethany Lutheran College in a UMAC tri with Bethany Lutheran and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Action will begin at 2:00 p.m. vs Bethany Lutheran followed by a 4:00 p.m. match against Wisconsin-Superior.
