Volleyball Still Looking for First Win After Home Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University Womens' Volleyball was swept in each of their four games at the NCU Invitational over the weekend. The Rams will head into this weekend's road trip still looking for their first win of the new season.

Friday the Rams opened with a 3-0 loss to Providence College (Otterburne, Manitoba). Seniors Anna Bird (Bloomington, Minn./Home School ) and Mariah Simonson (Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazzepa) each recorded five kills in the loss.

The final game of the Friday schedule had NCU face off against Trinity Bible College (Ellendale, N.D.) and once again the Rams were defeated 3-0. Mariah Simonson had a great match verses the Lions with 12 kills.

Saturday the Rams looked to bounce back in a rematch with Providence College and kept things closer within the individual sets but still fell 3-0 to the Freemen. Simonson, Bird and freshman Karlee Cox (Des Moines, Iowa/Saydel) each recorded four kills.

The tournament wrapped up with North Central losing 3-0 to Faith Baptist Bible College. Mariah Simonson led the Rams with 8 kills while freshman Sarah Trickey (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) recorded her best game in the early stages of her Rams career with six kills.

NCU is off until this weekend when they travel to Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, Iowa) for a triangular match at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams will face Moody Bible Institute at Noon before battling the host team, Emmaus Bible, at 2 p.m.

The Emmaus triangular is the final non-conference weekend before NCU starts their conference schedule on September 21 at The College of St. Scholastica (Duluth, Minn.)
