NEW ULM, Minn.-- After a fairly even first half North Central University Women's Soccer was overcome by two second half scores that came just three minutes apart in a 3-1 loss to Martin Luther College on Saturday afternoon. The Rams and Knights were tied a 1-1 after the first 45 minutes.
Martin Luther (2-4, 1-1) scored just ten minutes into the match but the Rams (2-3, 0-2) got an equalizer from senior forward Christina Goodman (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) in the 26th minute to keep the Rams in the match through the halftime break. The Knights outshot the Rams by a narrow 16-13 mark in the first half.
But the second half would be controlled by the Knights as they notched two more goals (64', 67') just three minutes apart to earn the 3-1 victory.
In the game Martin Luther outshot the Rams 35-14. Senior goalkeeper Noelle Stordock (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) made 31 saves in the match.
North Central will be back in action at home on Thursday afternoon with a 2 p.m. conference match verses The College of St. Scholastica at Coon Rapids Soccer Complex. The Saints are the defending UMAC Champions and come into the match at 3-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
