ST. PAUL, Minn.-- Bethany Lutheran College took both games of an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference double-header from North Central on Tuesday. The pair of games moved to Reynolds Field at the University of Northwestern due to weather making the Vikings home fields unplayable.
In game one the Rams (7-23, 1-13 UMAC) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run from freshman Ali Cornelius (Milaca, Minn./Spectrum) but the Vikings quickly took charge in the bottom of the frame to lead 5-1. With another five-spot in the second inning, BLC pulled away for good en route to a 12-2 win in five innings. Senior Amanda Roth (Appleton, Wis./Neenah) was responsible for the Rams only other hit on the day, a RBI double in the third inning.
Game two was scoreless after one inning and despite a lead-off double by freshman Emily Loop (Phelan, Calif./Serrano) in the second inning, North Central continued their offensive struggles in a 10-0 loss in five innings. Roth once again added the only other Rams hit with a double in the fourth.
North Central will close out their regular season on Saturday, once again at Reynolds Field. They will take on the University of Northwestern in a double-header scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
