Ankeny, Iowa – North Central Men's Soccer (1-1-0) earned their first win of the season with a dominant 2-0 win over the Faith Baptist Eagles (1-1-0) on Saturday afternoon in Ankeny, Iowa. The Rams traveled to play fellow National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) opponent before preparing for Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play on Wednesday. North Central was in control of the game from the beginning with the first Rams goal coming within the first ten minutes of play. The Rams led the Eagles in all the offensive categories to close out the game with the win.
Dennis Morales (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) got the Rams on the scoreboard first in the 6th minute with a beautiful strike just outside the box that curled around the keeper into the back of the net. The Rams would keep the offensive pressure heavy on the the Eagles but wouldn't score their second goal until the 76th minute when Josué Boutouli (Lome, Togo/Eagan) would dribble into the Eagles defense and slot the ball past the keeper to give the Rams the 2-0 lead.
The Rams were able to create positive offensive chances and movement just in time for conference play which begins Wednesday afternoon at home in Elliot Park for a 2 p.m. matchup with the St. Scholastica Saints. North Central will then travel across 35W and visit the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field at 2 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
