Hamline overpowers Rams

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- North Central Men's Soccer was defeated 6-1 by Hamline University in St. Paul on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams and Pipers met in an NCAA Division III non-conference game hosted by Hamline.

Hamline jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute and extended their margin in the 14th minute. But North Central drew one back with a goal from freshman foward Nick Wiese (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) in the 44th minute to set the score at 2-1 at the interval.

NCU was able to hold that half time score until the 72nd minute when Hamline broke through for their third score. The host would add additional scores in the 75th, 79th, and 85th minute to establish the final 6-1 score.

The Pipers outshot NCU 25-6 with junior goalkeeper Nathan Kraines (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) making 11 saves.

North Central will have off until Friday when they travel to Fargo, N.D. for a neutral site match with NCCAA DII region opponent Providence College (Otterburne, Manitoba) at 4 p.m. 

The North Dakota road trip continues with a Saturday match verses NAIA opponent Dakota Wesleyan University (Mitchell, S.D.). The Rams will take on DWU in Jamestown, N.D. in a match hosted by Jamestown College.
