MINNEAPOLIS-- Men's Golf was back in competition for the first time in two weeks on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams traveled up 35W to Francis Gross National Golf Course for the University of Northwestern Invitational.
Tuesday's field included eight of the nine teams from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference giving everyone a chance to see how they stack up before the conference tournament on October 5-7. The Rams ended up eighth on the day led by sophomore Ben Majerle (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls) who was among the scoring five for NCU for just the second time this season. Majerle fired an 86 (+15), the lowest round of his college career.
D.J. O'Brien (Scandia, Minn./Chisago Lakes) was next with an 88 followed by Grant Dodds (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) and Noah Gross (Loganville, Ga./Archer) who each shot an 89. O'Brien has been the first or second player for the Rams through the first four tournaments of the year while Dodds and Gross have been in the top five in those same events.
In their final tune up before the UMAC Championships, the Rams will be back in action at the Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) this Friday and Saturday.
