Ohman's Medalist Peformance Leads Rams to Second at Mississippi Valley Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University Men's Golf earned second place at the Mississippi River Valley Invitational on Friday at Le Seuer Golf Course. The match was the final tune up for NCU before the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championships later this week. Freshman Brady Ohman continued his strong rookie campaign by winning individual medalist honors. 

The Rams took home second place on Friday by finishing just four strokes behind the team winner and host Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.). NCU bettered third place Northwestern College (St. Paul, Minn.) by 16 strokes.

Brady Ohman (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River) took home medalist honors for the second time in his freshman season by shooting a 73 (+3) on the day. Senior Daniel Johnson (Grand Forks, N.D./Home School) was part of a four way tie for fourth place at 79 (+9) which was second for NCU.

Senior Nathan Roeder (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) was the third player for NCU with an eighth place finish. Freshman Lukas Olson (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids) placed 11th as the fourth player for the Rams.

North Central will be in action later this week at the UMAC Championship Tournament. Action begins at 10 a.m. each day October 4-6. The Tournament will be played at Deacons Lodge Golf Course (Brainerd, Minn.).

The winner of the UMAC Championship will earn an automatic berth in the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship. NCU has won the last three UMAC Championships including the first two automatic bids in league history.
