Ohman Leads Rams with Top Ten Finish at Huskie Invitational
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University Men's Golf earned an 11th place finish at the Huskie Invitational hosted by St. Cloud State University on Sunday and Monday at the St. Cloud Country Club. Freshman Brady Ohman continued his impressive rookie campaign by earned a top ten invididual in a competitive field of NCAA Division II, III and NAIA teams.
North Central shot a two-day score of 619 (303-316) to hold up well among a strong group of college golfers. Their first day 303 was the team's lowest round of the season and placed them seventh in the team standings after 18 holes.
Freshman Brady Ohman (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River) fired a two-day 149 (+5) including a 73 (+1) on Monday morning to lead the Rams in the number one slot. Ohman is now firing a season stroke average of 77 which ties him for the team lead with senior Taylor Murphy (Princeton, Minn./Princeton). Murphy was the second man for the Rams shooting a 76-79 (155, +11) to earn a 45th placement on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Colin Blonski (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) and Senior Daniel Johnson (Grand Forks, N.D./Home School) took 52nd and 62nd places respectively to round out the Rams top four.
North Central will have one final tournament before they head to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships on October 4-6. This Saturday the Rams will travel to Le Seuer, Minnesota for the Mississippi River Valley Invitational. That meet tees off at 9:30 a.m.
The Rams are the defending UMAC Champions and will look to earn their fourth straight conference title. A win at the UMAC Championship will give them their third straight NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament berth.
