Rams Volleyball Puts Together Solid Run at Trinity Bible College Classic

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central Women's Volleyball claimed four wins at the Trinity Bible College Classic on the way to a runner up finish in the six team event on Friday and Saturday night in Ellendale, N.D.

 

Friday night the Rams opened play with a dominant 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-16) win over Oak Hills Christian College (Bemidji, Minn.). Senior Amanda Matson (Milwaukee, Wis.) made a strong return to action recording 12 kills and six service aces in the three game sweep.

 

NCU then dropped a 3-1 match to Dawson Community College (Glendive, Mont.) before gaining their biggest win of the year thus far with a 3-1 win over Providence College who was the fifth ranked team in the NCCAA DII. Amanda Matson recorded 19 kills and junior Lindsay Larson (Lakeville, Minn.) recorded 35 assists in the victory.

 

Saturday NCU opened tournament play with another 3-0 sweep of Oak Hills Christian before moving on to a semi-final rematch with Dawson Community College. After dropping the first set 25-21, the Rams swept the next three to earn a 3-1 win. Matson notched 10 kills in the victory.

 

North Central fell to NAIA opponent Jamestown College (Jamestown, N.D.) in the championship game in straight sets, 3-0.

 

After gaining some much needed momentum the Rams host a triangular this evening with a 4 pm match verses Waldorf College (Forest City, Iowa) and a 7 pm match verses Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.). Morris and Waldorf College will face off at 5:30 pm.
