Head Coach
Minneapolis, Minn.
Coach Tonder, a 2007 graduate of Evangel University (Springfield, Mo.), served as an assistant to former coach Brian Pingel during the 2010 season and is set to take over the NCU Tennis programs for the 2011 season. “After working with the team this past year, I am really excited to return in a new position and hit the ground running,” Coach Tonder said. “I had such a great time with the team last year and am excited to be working with many of the same athletes as well as some new faces.” Coach Tonder was a standout player at Little Falls High School in Little Falls, Minnesota and played collegiate tennis while at Evengel, a fellow Assemblies of God University. She completed her pre-pharmacy requirements at Evangel and is currently in her third year of pharmacy school at the University of Minnesota with plans to graduate in May of 2012. Currently she works as the Pharmaceutical Care Co-Coordinator at the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, a student run free medical clinic in Minneapolis. She is also the International Outreach Coordinator for 'Agape' through the College of Pharmacy. Coach Tonder spent a year in Norway following her graduation from Evangel as a missionary through Students for Christ (the European branch of the Assemblies of God "Chi Alpha") where she was on a team that planted a student group in Trondheim, Norway. The 2011 season will mark the third year of varsity tennis at NCU and the Rams will again compete as a member of the competitive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. Coach Tonder has high hopes and aspirations for the NCU Tennis programs both on and off the court. “My goal this year is to build on the relationships we developed as a team last year and push towards bringing a higher level of competition onto the courts,” she said.
