2010 Women's Soccer
Head Coach, Men's Soccer
Minneapolis, MN
Coach Smith played for the Rams Soccer team in 1993 and then coached the team in 1995 and 1996. He returned to coaching Rams soccer with the women’s team in 2006. In 2008 Smith began coaching the men’s team as well as the women’s team. While the team has struggled to find the back of the net, over the past couple of seasons we have turned into a side known for relentless attacks. The 2010 season started strong but some key players were injured early on which deprived our offensive and defensive efforts.
Beginning with the fall, 2011 season Smith will be focusing on the men’s soccer team. Regarding the future of the team, Coach Smith said, “Our past disappointments are behind us. We are now set to begin a new era in NCU men’s soccer.” In addition to coaching soccer, Jake Smith has served in the division of student development as the Dean of Residence Life since 2000, but has recently been appointed the Director of Recreation and Wellness. He also teaches leadership courses for the university. Smith earned a B.S. in Interdisciplinary studies from NCU in 1994 and holds a M.A. in Human Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. He resides in Saint Paul with his wife Michele and children Isaac and Sophia.
