Dr. Tom Smith (ATC, ATR, DHSc, MSS, CSCS) comes to North Central University as a part of the recent partnership with The Mayo Clinic. Beginning this year, Dr. Smith will serve as the Head Athletic trainer for the North Central University athletic department. He is a 1988 graduate of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. He obtained his master's degree in sports medicine from the United States Sports Academy prior to receiving his doctorate of Health Science from A.T. Still University.
Dr. Smith has over 25 years of world class experience in the field of athletic training. Prior to coming to North Central University he has served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Atlanta Hawks. He has experience as the Head Athletic Trainer for USTA, Minnesota United FC to go along with a four-year stint as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Orlando Magic of the NBA.
Alongside his full time role at North Central University, Dr. Smith will still have a presence at the Mayo Clinic Minneapolis campus. He also is a member of the game day medical staff for the Minnesota Vikings.
